Many Veterans are eligible for hospice care through both Medicare and VA benefits. Is a Veteran eligible for hospice care?

Yes. Veterans are eligible for hospice care under Medicare Part A, Medicaid, and in many cases through VA benefits as well. Eligibility is generally based on a physician’s determination that the patient has a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness follows its expected course. Bristol Hospice can help assess eligibility and explain available options.

Can a Veteran use both VA benefits and Medicare for hospice?
