Questions Families Often Ask

These are the questions families most often have when first considering hospice care.

Does choosing hospice mean giving up?
Hospice is not giving up. It is choosing to focus on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Many families tell us they wish they had called sooner. Hospice care often allows people to spend more meaningful time at home with the people they love.
How do I know if my loved one qualifies?
Hospice is typically appropriate when a physician estimates a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness follows its expected course. Signs families often notice include frequent hospital visits, significant weight loss, increased pain, or declining strength and function. Our team can help you understand if your loved one may be eligible.
Is hospice care covered by Medicare?
Yes. Hospice is covered under Medicare Part A when eligibility criteria are met. Coverage typically includes all hospice team visits, medications related to the hospice diagnosis, medical equipment, and supportive services. Most families pay nothing out of pocket.
