At Bristol Hospice, we are incredibly proud to celebrate Dr. Linda Tavel, Medical Director of Bristol Hospice – Webster, Texas, for receiving the Charley Wasson Hospice Advocacy Award! This prestigious recognition honors her unwavering commitment to advancing hospice care and advocating for patients and families with compassion and expertise.

A Career Rooted in Excellence and Compassion

Dr. Tavel has been a dedicated hospice and palliative care physician since 2001, transitioning to full-time hospice practice in 2004. She is board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, demonstrating her deep expertise in end-of-life care. Her passion lies in performance improvement, patient safety, and developing decision-making tools that empower patients and caregivers.

She began her journey in medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, later completing her Family Medicine residency at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. During her residency, she trained alongside chaplain trainees in the Clinical Pastoral Education program, which deepened her understanding of holistic, patient-centered care. In 1999, she expanded her leadership skills by earning an MBA from the University of Houston at Clear Lake.

Throughout her career, Dr. Tavel has remained committed to enhancing the quality of hospice care through education, research, and advocacy. Her work in creating healing environments and improving patient care practices continues to shape the hospice industry for the better.

As a proud native Houstonian, Dr. Tavel brings not only expertise but also a personal connection to the community she serves. She shares her home with a Geriatrician, a Web Designer, and a beloved geriatric rescue cat, balancing a life filled with both professional dedication and personal joy.
