Share Your Story With the Bristol Hospice Community

This page is a place for families and caregivers to share meaningful moments from their hospice journey. Your story can help other families better understand hospice and feel less alone.

Share as much or as little as you would like. A few words, a memory, and photos or videos are all welcome. What matters most is your voice and the love behind it.

Sharing your story helps others understand what hospice can look and feel like through real family experiences. Many caregivers say that hearing how others supported a loved one at the end of life brings comfort, clarity, and reassurance. By sharing a memory or moment, you honor your loved one while helping another family feel less alone.

Jim and his wife

51 years together

Jim was diagnosed with vascular dementia after a hospital stay, and his doctor recommended hospice care. After 51 years of marriage, his wife stepped away from work to care for him full time, wanting to give back a small portion of the love and life they had shared. She describes Bristol Hospice as everything she hoped hospice would be, saying she has been more than impressed with the care and support their family received.

Not alone anymore

After a stroke, Steven returned home needing daily support and facing life alone. Through coordination with the hospital and veterans services, Bristol Hospice began visiting almost every day, bringing food, supplies, and steady companionship. He describes those visits as something that kept his spirits up during a deeply difficult time and helped him begin to heal. In just a few weeks, the care and presence he received felt like years of help, and he says the Bristol team came to feel like family.

Diana and her mother

A gift of relief

When her mother began receiving hospice care, Diana felt an immediate sense of relief. Instead of managing constant appointments and hospital visits, she had a dedicated team supporting her mother at home, with nurses visiting regularly and help available at any hour. She knew her mother’s care would be appropriate, compassionate, and focused on comfort, allowing her to remain in a familiar place rather than the hospital. Diana describes hospice as a true gift that brought peace of mind to their family during an incredibly vulnerable time.
